flip book & videodrom

So my flip book didnt really flip.. it kinda moved. I made my pages too big and the transitions didnt look as smoothly as they should of with my ideas. If it moved better i think it would look alot cooler, but i tried really hard on it. I never made one before so i wasn't too sure on how to go about it but i did the best i could on it. All the other flip books were great and you could see how much effort everyone put into theirs too.

The movie Videorom seemed crazy. Watching someone's hallucinations turn into reality freaks me out a little because along with the character, I have no idea if what's being seen is real or if its totally out of mind. It would drive me crazy if that happened to me, almost if i was having a bad trip and it lasted my entire life. Unless your hallucinations were amazing, funny or beautiful, basically anything than scary then i guess it would be cool. Still freaks me out though.

Importance of Music in Silent Films

Music is important in silent films because it makes or breaks the mood of the setting or the entire film itself. If you have an intesnse scene with serious or darker music, its more likely to get the point across than if you had the same scene and chose a techno fast pace song. The music talks even when the actors say nothing, because we interpert it in our own way- the way we want to. Sometimes i'll mute television shows or a movie and play music and see hows it different with a certain song. If theres a happy fun scene, ill put on really upbeat music to see if it would still go along in that act and then i'll change it to some emo sounding music and see how that fits. I think about music in scences alot because i've always thought it would be cool to be that person who finds music for specific scenes in movies, or even commercials.

Opera

I usually get Opera and Oprah mixed up- werid but I do. I can't believe I just said that.. anyway, watching alot of scences from Operas showed me how music really came to be entertainment and how different styles of singing appeared throughout the decades. I like the Baroque era best because it has alot of fun colors, and is really detailed with the props, bacgrounds, and scence settings. Some of it looks like things you would only see in dreams that have come to life and that really grabs my attention because the creativity and detail is so good its almost not real. I also liked how there was typically just one singer that everyone came to watch and admire instead of a whole cast where alot of things and people are going on. I found my attention to stay with that one singer and really pay attention to the song and message that was being said. I love the costumes- anything Marie Antoinette looking is really cool and I get a little mesmerized by it all. It reminds me of fantasy mixed with reality with elegance and money, having huge partys and only the best of everything. I think its a cool era and one that i enjoyed seeing.

about me

My name is Berni and I'm a communications major. I'm usually outgoing and I'm down to earth. My fist feelings of class were nervous because I'm not that good at drawing but I hope to improve and do well. I took this course because its a crossover w. com 211 and I'm interested in the subject material. I want to become better with technology and explore more creativity of expression as well as making visuals that have some type of affect on people. I love finding images to go along with music so that it can tell a story without words and everyone can interpert it differently. Thats pretty much it for now.. but there will be more :)
